This page is devoted to clearing up some misconceptions that you may have had if you have read the school board's page:

Comment: “Some School Districts have it  [just cause] for teachers or support staff (e.g. Goffstown, Exeter, Hooksett).  Some do not (e.g. Amherst, Bedford, Henniker, Hollis-Brookline, all good school districts we can benchmark against)”
BEA Note: Amherst has Just Cause in its teacher contract at Article XIII, Section 13.5.  and Hollis-Brookline has just cause in its ESP contract at Article XVI, Section 16.7

Comment:   “…teachers, tenured or not, can be dismissed by law only for cause…”
BEA Note:: The statute from which this language springs (RSA 189:13) simply states that teachers will be “notified of the cause of the dismissal.”   The term “cause” within the meaning of the statute does not confer nor imply a standard of proof for “cause”, an evidentiary standard which is the same as just cause. There is no evidentiary standard in RSA 189:13.
