Dr. Deborah Gibbens, Principal
Dr. Gibbens has been the principal of Bow Elementary School since 2000. Prior to coming to Bow, she served as the school principal at Sunapee Elementary and assistant principal at Peter Woodbury School in Bedford, NH. Deborah has teaching experience at elementary, middle, high school, and the university levels. She was the recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching in 1983 while she was a middle school teacher at McKelvie School in Bedford, New Hampshire. She was honored at the White House with this prestigious award.
Dr. Gibbens’ academic preparation includes a Bachelor’s Degree from Slippery Rock University, a Masters of Education in Administration from Notre Dame College, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Plymouth State University, and Doctorate in Leadership from Franklin Pierce University.Jane Morrill-Winter, Assistant Principal, is excited to be joining the BES community once again, having worked at Bow Elementary as the interim assistant principal for ten weeks in the fall of 2001. Jane earned her B.S. in the Education of Exceptional Children from Penn State and her M. Ed. in Early Childhood, Special Needs from the University of New Hampshire. Her experience includes more than twenty years as an educator in public schools and higher education. Jane’s teaching career began in Caledonia, Mississippi, followed by several years as a classroom and special education teacher in New Hampshire. For eight years, Jane was the Assistant Principal of the Henniker Community School, a preschool through grade eight school. Most recently, Jane was an Assistant Professor in the Education Department at New England College, teaching courses in regular and special education and supervising pre-service teachers in area schools.
Jane’s professional interests include the development of strong learning communities, the implementation of effective teaching strategies and the differentiation of instruction to meet diverse needs. Jane is looking forward to working with the children and families in the Bow community.
Jane is the mother of three sons and lives with her family in Henniker.
