Statement of Purpose

Bow High School, as part of a community of learners, is committed to educational excellence, which includes academic achievement, social responsibility, and an understanding of the diverse world in which we live.

In partnership with parents and the community, we will provide an environment which supports the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of students, while fostering an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of good citizenship.

We believe that an interdisciplinary curriculum prepares students to become skilled, knowledgeable, and motivated life-long learners. A curriculum that engages learners as active participants, challenges and supports all students to be successful in life.

Goals

Bow High School will maintain high expectations for all students and staff to:

• Acquire and apply the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to become life-long learners and successful in life;
• Become actively involved in the entire educational experience at Bow High School, including co-curricular and curriculum related programs;
• Participate in evaluating the effectiveness of the school and take appropriate action towards continuous improvement;
• Recognize, value and develop our abilities for personal growth and physical well being;
• Develop confidence by challenging ourselves beyond our comfortable limits.
  

Bow High School will promote open, active, ongoing, and productive relationships among students, staff and the community.

• Learning will extend into the home and community supported by individuals and organizations including parents and businesses;
• Input from all segments of the community, through appropriate channels, will be welcomed and carefully considered in school decisions;
• Communications among all members of the school community will be based on mutual respect and understanding.
