PRESENT LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE

The Present Level of Performance describes the unique needs of a child that will be addressed by special education and related services.  It establishes a baseline of measurable information that serves as the starting point for developing goals and objectives/benchmarks.

The Present Level of Performance specifies:

l the strengths of the child
l the unique needs of child
l parental concerns
l how the child's disability affects their involvement and progress in
     the general curriculum

Key Characteristics:

l measureable
l objective
l functional
l current
l identifies any special factors
l describes both academic
l includes the results of most recent evaluation performance data,  
      state and/or district assessments
l establishes a baseline of information used in writing goals, short
      term
objectives, and benchmarks
