WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE WE ALL ABOUT?
WORLD STUDIES – WORLD’S FAIR PROJECT
**This project is required of all World Studies students**

Students will be allowed to work individually or in pairs.  Your group will be required to keep log sheets of all time spent working on this project.

You must choose a country and put together an exhibit showcasing your country, its history, culture, and unique qualities.  Your exhibits will be put on display in the lobby/atrium area of the school.  Students will make presentations on their specific countries at their display tables.  During the school day, all BHS students will be invited to the World’s Fair exhibition.  The only country that is off limits for this project is the United States.

Your project/exhibition must include the following components:

-the history of your country (a timeline might be a good way to do this)
-maps (both physical and political—mere photocopies are not acceptable
-population statistics (be able to make some conclusions and connections)
-flags
-current economic statistics
-political systems (current government/leaders)
-music
- art
- dance
-dress/clothing of the culture
-major religions
-famous people
-language(s)…you should learn a few phrases…
-food
-current events-follow a current event in your country from now until the
presentation and be able to report on the progress or developments

In addition, you will be required to make an Internet connection with your country’s embassy in Washington, DC or directly to a school in the country itself.

This project will count as a major part of your second quarter grade.  An additional reflection paper on the project will be required as a part of your midterm as well.
