Tim Bradley: Ives Spelling Bee Champion!

It was one of the longest spelling bees on record. The finalists spelled their way through twenty-four rounds of difficult words. The audience listened intently as their grade-level representatives flawlessly spelled such words as 'aggrandizement,' 'adjudicate,' and 'omniscient.' In the end, Tim Bradley, last year's runner-up, edged out fellow eighth grade classmate David Merchan by spelling ''synthetically' correctly, becoming the 2010 Ives Spelling Bee Champion. Congratulations to all participants; they were impressive spellers indeed!

After three final round questions had been answered, the champion emerged. Tayza Tu, grade 8, had answered the three questions correctly, and finalist Andrew Attorri, grade 8, had two of the three correct answers. Congratulations to all GeoBee participants!

Helping Hands for Haiti

In response to the desperate situation in Haiti, all profits from the January Student Council dance will go to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. In addition, for the remainder of the month, Student Council representatives will be collecting student and staff donations during lunches. For every donation made, a paper hand with the donor's name or the grade number they are in or work with will be put up on the Student Council bulletin board to show how much BMS cares as we give "Helping Hands for Haiti."
