Notes from the School Nurse
This is a good time to schedule physicals for some upcoming camp requirements and to avoid the doctor’s office backlog. By the end of sixth grade, all students are required to have a current physical exam report on file in the health office. Letters and forms were sent home to all students last June. This form must be on file prior to the Ferry Beach Environmental Camp trip in June 2010. It is also available on my web page.
New NH Immunization Requirements state that students must have a record of a one time T-dap (a Tetanus booster for adolescents that contains Pertussis Vaccine) after age 11 years of age if it has been 5 years since their last tetanus-toxoid containing vaccine.
Eighth grade students will need a physical exam after May 2008 on file for the Sargent Camp trip in May 2010. If you are scheduling an appointment, please note that any eighth grade students who would like to play sports at Bow High School next year will need to have a physical exam dated after February 1, 2010. Forms are available in the Bow Memorial office for that purpose. You must get this green form filled out even if you have turned in a form for Sargent Camp, as it is specific for Bow High School sports.

Basic guidelines for school attendance:
- Does your child feel well enough to make it?
- Is he/she able to eat solid food and drink fluids without vomiting or severe pain?
- Has your child been fever-free for 24 hours?
- Does he/she have a manageable cough and use good cough etiquette?
- Has your child been on antibiotic medication for at least 24 hours?
Please remember the H1N1 precautions still apply. Wash your hands, cover your coughs, and stay home if you are truly sick. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 225-3212 ext. 406. If you have questions about the Bow High School sports requirements, please contact Leslie Bean, RN at 228-2210 ext. 334.
