Principal's Corner

Dear Parents/Guardians,

BMS is a busy place this time of year. We would like to commend our Social Studies Department for coordinating the Annual GeoBee and our Language Arts Department for coordinating our Annual Ives Spelling Bee. Congratulations to our new school champions: Tayza Tu, GeoBee Champion and Tim Bradley, Spelling Bee Champion! Our second Luncheon Recital of the year, coordinated by Mrs. Giguere and Mrs. Romano, was held on January 20. The Destination Imagination teams are working hard to meet new challenges, and the BMS Math Team is currently in first place in our region. Be on the lookout for your child’s mid-year report card, due to be sent home the first week in February.

The Alert Now notification system has been used successfully for both email information about H1N1 and snow day cancellations. The whole process appears to be very efficient. Please notify the office if your email address has changed since the start of the year or if you have not received any notifications this year.

Our mid-year Good Citizenship Movie is scheduled for early February. We are always thrilled with the large number of students who are invited to participate in this quarterly event, which is based on excellent behavior and personal responsibility.

According to the NH Department of Education, NECAP scores from last fall’s state testing will be released near the end of January. We were pleased with the efforts of our students last October, and regardless of the outcome, we will continue to strive for student success within an academically challenging environment.

As always, we welcome your thoughts and concerns as we move forward this year.

Sincerely,
Kirk Spofford and Donna Girard
