     The Guidance Department provides services for students through developmental, comprehensive, prevention, and intervention programs.  The primary task of a school counselor is to help students become better learners by providing individual and group counseling, classroom life skills training, and helping to create a positive school-wide learning environment for all students.  Some classroom activities include: conflict resolution, social skills, teaching tolerance, goal setting, drug education and career development.  School counselors can also assist in providing an important link between school and home.  Consultation with school staff and parents can be helpful in supporting students in becoming successful learners.   Parents are encouraged to contact the Guidance Department with student issues and concerns.
