Weds, Dec 17: Wow, we've been out for quite a while with the ice storm! We are finishing up our nutrition projects. If you were absent when we did the analysis packet, make sure to get it from me. The due date for the project has changed to Monday, Dec 22. All sections should be turned in together on that date. We will be classroom on thurs/fri this week. Next week, planning to be active OUTSIDE on Mon/Tues. Dress for outdoor activity!!!!
** Don't forget to be tracking exercise (for fitness project-part 4) and your JOB SHADOW REQUIREMENT. BOTH WILL BE DUE AFTER VACATION!!!!
Tues/Weds, Dec 2/3: Collected homework. In-class worksheet on food labels. Intro on Nutrition evaluation project. First parts due Monday, Dec 8th. Active thurs/fri: archery.
Monday, Dec 1. Part 4 of our personal fitness project (log your activity) was presented today. keep track of all physical activity until Jan 9th (6 weeks). Also, we are starting our nutrition project as well. In class, intro info (click for notes) and in-class worksheet on energy needs were presented. for homework (due tues/weds) we are completing the "how's your diet" survey, and completing a intro essay. see me if you were absent for makeup.
Monday, Nov 17th. Today, we receive directions for Part 3 of our personal Fitness Project. For this section, please create your own 6 week fitness plan. See directions given in class for specifics. The assignment is due Mon/Tues next week. We are also starting CPR/AED recertification today. We will continue in the classroom tues/wed, and finish aed on thurs/fri. we will then be active the 2nd half of class. We will take the red cross cpr/aed certification test on mon/tues. If you want the certification card, you need to have been present all days, pass the quiz with better than 80%, and pay the $7 fee on test day. click here for review info.
Thurs/Fri, Oct 30/31: We are finishing with guidance today. If you have missed any day, make sure to see me about make up. We are completing the "choices" college search program today. Also, our Personal Fitness Project will be explained today. Parts 1 and 2 are due Nov 13/14th. Detailed requirements were handed out in class. See me if you were absent or have questions. Additional due dates will follow....next week, we will be active on the ropes course. Dress warm......
Monday, Oct 28 Starting College/Career Planning with Guidance. Classroom-Begin "Myers-Briggs" personality evaluation. If you were absent, complete this work sheet . Tues/Weds, Oct 14/15: Welcome back!! We've been out of the classroom for a while with choices, testing and a 4 day weekend..... Today, we complete the Flexitest. If you missed it, see me for a packet to complete on your own. It is a homework grade..... We will have a QUIZ on Monday, Oct 20th, covering all the components of fitness, and the principles of conditioning. Click here for a review sheet! Format will be similar to our last quiz. We are active thurs/fri, starting the ropes course. Plan to be outside.....
Mon, Sept 15: Quiz today, and kayak safety video. Kayak trips are this week, tues, weds, thurs. The day your class is not on the trip will be a classroom day.
Tues/Weds, Sept 9/10: Continue with personal fitness evaluations, including resting heart rates, push up/sit ups, BMI's, bodyfats/goal weights and Target heart rates (see me for in-class worksheets if you missed class). We also started to talk about what these measurements all mean, and how they impact your health. Active on thurs/fri (rugby, here is some game info) and QUIZ on MONDAY (Click here for what might be on it) may include components of fitness, measurements we have done, and what they mean....)!!
Monday Sept 8: In class, we began our personal fitness evaluations, including height, wt, body comp and blood pressure. If you were absent, please plan on making these up....Don't Forget, field trip forms due this week!!
Tues/Weds, Sept 2/3: Discussed class participation rubrics, Components of Physical Fitness, and Levels of perceived exertion (borg scale). Also discussed upcoming Kayak Field Trips on Sept 17th (periods 2 and 8), 18th (periods 1 and 7) and 19th (period 3). We will be doing the Mile walk test and starting Rugby on thurs/fri. Make sure to change for active....
