Community Update 8/18/15
Dear Dunbarton and Bow,
Well we are in an August heat wave, so that must mean that we are ready to start fall sports and get ready for the first day of school which will be August 31 this year. We had to make a lot of compromises on the calendar this year, and we know that a full 5 day week of school is a tough way to start, but that’s what had to be done to make way for all the big elections this year.
We have updated the format of our webpages and it will be a little bit of a learning curve and an implementation dip to get them up to full speed. We made the change over the summer and our webmasters will be fine tuning them when they come back to work as we begin the school year. I know there is some frustration in trying to find some things, but let me and or your school principal know what you are looking for and we will be able to fine tune them more quickly.
We have many new staff and administrators including Tam McAllister our SAU 67 Special Services Director, Andrea Drolet Bow’s k-8 Special Education Coordinator, Kurt Gergler the BES Principal, Laura Landry the Dunbarton Special Education Coordinator and Tyfanny Carbone the Bow Food Services Director. It has been a busy summer with these new employees and their fresh ideas, but I am very excited about their work.
In addition we are working on beginning the implementation of 1:1 computing, piloting Impact Testing for Baseline Concussion Testing, beginning surveys to gather better feedback, working on competency based learning for all grades and looking at more holistic reporting of our school results including our performance on SBAC tests taken last year.
Enjoy the last days of summer.
