How to setup a VPN connection with OSX: (these instructions are for 10.3 but should be similar for earlier versions of OSX)

1) Select "Applications" from the "Go" menu or go to /Macintosh HD/Applications/ and run the program "Internet Connect"

Leopard Users (10.5.x) Should click here

2) Click on the "VPN" icon in the toolbar

3) Select "PPTP" as the VPN type and press "continue" to..... continue

4) Enter "yamato.bownet.org" as the server address; your "account name", and your "Password". Then make sure that "Show VPN Status in menu bar" is clicked on. Press "Connect" to ..... connect

5) While connected, your computer will behave as if  it is connected to our network. You'll have access to the same network volumes you would have access to at school (though slower). You can still access everything through the go menu selecting "Connect to Server" and entering server names as follows:

enterprise.bownet.org (to access all faculty and student folders)

You can tell you are connected by monitoring the VPN status meter in the upper right corner of your screen.

NOTE: While connected to BowNET via VPN, you will not complete access to your regular home network. Thus your web browser won't work unless your going through our proxy server, you won't be able to access none-district email servers, etc...... Regular access will resume when you complete the next step......

6) When you are finished using your VPN session, find your session icon in the upper right corner of your screen, click on it, and select "disconnect". Complete access to your regular home network is now restored.

When you choose to reconnect in the future, simply select "connect" from the VPN menu in the upper right corner of your screen.
