Calling all Inventors

The Invention Convention
Awards in the Invention Category will be given for:
- Most Outstanding - this winner will represent your
grade at the State Competition in May at Merrimack Valley High School.
- Environmental
- Special Needs
- Fun and Leisure Tim
- Practical and Useful
- Original and Unique
- Most Marketable
- Inventor's Choice Award (to be selected at BMS Ed.
Fair)
Special Award Categories are:
- Electric Award – use of electric phenomenon and
technology
- Groundwater and Drinking Water Award – use, protection
and stewardship of groundwater and drinking water.
- Medical Award – solves a health related problem
- Inventors’ Digest Award – solves problems that other
people face
- Note: At the State Level Celebration many of these
special awards have savings bonds for prizes.
Inventions are judged on the following criteria:
- Originality
- Written description/presentation
- Model/illustration
- Research performed
- Usefulness
Rube Goldberg 
A good Rube Goldberg invention incorporates everyday
devices connected in and used in ways that may seem idiotic, ingenious, and
creative. The Rube Goldberg category is divided into two groups, individual
projects and team projects (no more than 3 students per team).
Entries in each group and at each grade level will be considered for:
- Most Outstanding - this winner will represent your
grade at the State Competition in May at Merrimack Valley High School
- Best Working Device
- Original and Unique
- Best Design Using Simple Machines
- Best Effort
- Inventor’s Choice (to be selected at the BMS Ed. Fair)
