Inventions are judged on the following criteria:
Originality,
Written description or presentation,

State Level Special Award Categories
Electric Award - recognizing interest in & use of electrical phenomenon & technology (1st - $100 Savings Bond, 2nd - $75 Savings Bond, 3rd - $50 Savings Bond)
Groundwater and Drinking Water Award - recognizing an understanding of groundwater and/or drinking water and issues affecting its use and protection (1st - $100 Savings Bond, 2nd - $50 Savings Bond, 3rd - $50 Savings Bond)
Medical Award - invention that solves a health-related problem (1st - $50 Savings Bond, 2nd - $50 Savings Bond, 3rd - $50 Savings Bond)
Inventors Digest Award invention that solves problems other people face (1st - $100 Savings Bond, 2nd - $50 Savings Bond, 3rd - $50 Savings Bond)
Millennium invention offers solutions to problems brought about by developments in computer, Internet and telecommunications
Lemelson Student Award presented to the student who best exemplifies the sprit of innovation and invention

Judging Information for the Rube Goldberg Category
One individual and one team winner at each grade level will represent Bow Memorial at the State Competition on Saturday, May 11 at Merrimack Valley High SchoolJudging criteria includes evidence of the following:
At least four simple machines, such as
o Lever
o Wheel and axle
o Inclined plane
o Pulley or screw
Construction quality counts!
Written/oral presentation
Creativity ingenuity in using everyday materials in unique ways
Number of steps to complete the task (6 minimum)
