LIP Program

LIP stands for Leaders in Prevention.  This program teaches students how to take positive actions in their schools and communities.  It is a wellness-based prevention model which focuses on leadership, community-building, diversity, self esteem, problem-solving and drug and alcohol prevention.

Bow Memorial has had an active LIP group here for three years.  Each spring we train a new group of students. Students who attend the trainings are nominated by their teachers and the guidance department.  That trained group share their new skills and model behaviors for other students in the school. The program which meets every Friday at 8 AM is open to all students.  They plan school wide activities to promote healthy lifestyles and to build a sense of community and friendship within the group.

Our students are very motivated to make a difference in their school and community, especially in the aspect of drug and alcohol abuse prevention and improving school climate.  It also provides students with a supportive group of peers who are not involved in substance abuse.
