2006-7 Mythology Club

***REGISTRATION FORMS***

Mythology club prepares students for the National Mythology Exam, which is part of  a voluntary after-school program.

March 22, 2007

Dear Mythology Club students and parents,

We are so pleased with Mythology Club and the students’ enthusiasm and motivation for learning. Currently the children are working on skits that they will perform on March 27 at our next Mythology Club meeting. These skits include the story of Pan, Orion, Echo, and Syrinx. If you would like to come and watch the skits please feel welcome.

Students have learned the names of all the Greek gods, their symbols, realm, and their Roman name. Not a small feat! After the skits next week we will move on to the Iliad, Book 23.

We would like to extend Mythology Club by one week. Instead of giving the National Mythology Exam on April 5, we would like to move that to April 12 in order to give the children a bit more time to master the material.

This brings us to the Annual Mythology Club PIZZA PARTY EXTRAVANGAZA!

Following the National Mythology Exam we would like to celebrate and have a pizza party. Mrs. Korrell and I will take care of ordering the pizza, but are hoping that parents will help to contribute with drinks, paper products, or anything else you think the students would enjoy. We have asked Mrs. Chern (elsasilva@comcast.net) to once again organize this for us so please contact her if you would like to be involved. We will also need some extra parents around on April 12 to help set up the party. Usually we give the exam in the library while parents set up for the party in Mrs. Jones’s classroom (Room C). We are asking that each child contribute $3 towards the cost of the pizza, supplies, and drinks.

This has been a fabulous year for Mythology Club and in great measure due to your support of this program. Thank you so much!

Sincerely,

 Edie Jones and Emily Korrell
