Grade 8
Rules and Expectations for Academics and Behavior
If you follow these rules and strive to meet the expectations, everyday in eighth grade
will be pleasant and rewarding:
Academic
- Keep your daily assignment notebook up to date and accurate, and bring it to class
everyday.
- Keep your notebook binder in order, and bring it to class everyday.
- Complete assignments on time or you will lose points.
- Writing assignments must be typed, following conventional rules for papers. See the
"What is Quality Work?" directions.
- If you are absent, you have one day for each day you were out to make up an assignment,
quiz, or test. Arrangements to make up work after an extended absence can be made with
individual teachers. It is your responsibility to make the arrangements and to do
the work.
- You are assessed and graded for assignments and class work.
Behavioral
Be on time.
Enter classroom in an orderly manner.
Be seated immediately.
Talking is not allowed without permission.
Take out homework and class work materials.
Place your book bag under or behind your desknot in the aisle.
Check daily assignments on board.
Write information in assignment notebook.
Raise your hand to ask a question or to contribute to class discussion.
If you need to go to the boys or girls room, use the room pass. If you need to go beyond
the eighth-grade classrooms, fill out a hall pass and get it signed by the teacher. Always
sign out on the sign-out sheet by the door. Only one person is allowed out of the room at
a time.
Failure to follow any of these rules will result in a detention with us, and if
necessary a school detention. If you still do not understand the error of your ways and
thus change your behavior, a parent conference will be requested.
The school-wide rules are posted in the classroom. Be sure to follow them. Make note of
the consequences when they are not followed.
Always use your manners and show respect for yourself and others. Thank you.

Grade 8
Rules and Expectations for Study Hall
- Enter quietly with all materials you will need during study, including a reading
bookno locker visits. You are responsible for keeping yourself occupied in a
constructive manner.
- Be seated immediately, place book bag under or behind your desknot in the
aisle and take out study materials.
- The study hall must be settled and quiet for five minutes before any passes will be
honored.
- Talking is not allowed without permission.
- Calculators are to be used only for mathematics assignments.
- The media center is for school work only. If you need to go to the media center for a
class you must have a pass from that classs teacher.
- If you need to go to the bathroom, use the room pass.
- If you need to travel beyond the eighth-grade classrooms, fill out a pass and get it
signed by the teacher.
- Always sign out on the sign-out sheet by the door.
- You may go only where your pass indicates. To do otherwise is misuse of a pass.
- Recyclers may not leave before 2:40. You need to check in with your study teacher and
sign out of the study hall.
Failure to follow any of these rules will result in a detention with us, and if
necessary a school detention. Continued misbehavior will be cause for a parent conference.
