The Buddha in Kamakura

I headed to Kamakura to see this great Buddha on my own. It took an hour and a half by train and foot from Tokyo. It was a sight to behold.

Many of the JFMFers wanted to see this great statue. We returned from our travels back to Tokyo and we all had some free time to explore.

This is the Great Buddha or Daibutsu. It is revered by the believers in Buddhism.

I sat at a stone platform for quite a long time, taking in this monumental moment in time.

This is of course the back of the Buddha. Not a common site.

For 20 yen (lesss than 20 cents) I was able to go inside. I am facing the interiour of his bellly.

A Japanese gentleman came out of nowhere and wanted to take a picture of me with my camera. I was grateful, and touched by his kindness.
