Welcome
All students in grades 5, 6, 7, & 8 are scheduled for one rotation of computer literacy each year at Bow Memorial School. One class per grade level meets daily for one hour. In addition, one 40-minute lab per grade level is scheduled each week. This 22-day course is designed to provide an overall understanding of the computer. An emphasis is placed on developing keyboarding skills as well as becoming proficient in the use of a variety of applications. Students also learn about the history of computers, how computers work, and Internet safety.
The computer lab has 25 student workstations, each equipped with an Apple Mac Mini computer, which runs Apple's Mac OS X Leopard and Microsoft's Windows 2003 through a remote desktop connection.
All students in grades 5-8 are expected to create an ICT digital portfolio. Each 8th grade student will be required to create a K-8 electronic technology portfolio, which will demonstrate competency in each of the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for Students.
