How To Donate Computer Equipment To the Bow School District

What We Can Use

As of June 2008, The Bow School District  will accept donated equipment with the following minimum configuration*:

PCs

• 2.8 Ghz Pentium IV processor
• 1 GB RAM
• 40 GB hard drive
• 10/100 NIC installed
• any version of Windows operating system pre-installed**
• Preferred Brands: Compaq, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Micron

Macs

• 1 GB G4 or better

Other

•  Laser printers
• Monitors (LCD only)
• Scanners (USB only)

*Lower-end machines are not worth the labor/effort/cost

**Machines with any Windows operating system convey a license that permits an OS upgrade. Machines without an OS will cost the Bow School District over $100 extra, so such machines are not worth the labor/effort/cost.

Process To Donate

1. Anyone wishing to donate equipment and District staff receiving donations should call Roy Bailey at 224-4728 x320 or email him at rbailey@bownet.org 

• Describe the donation, including machine specifications
• Describe the desired placement of the donation, such as school, department, etc, if donor has a preference
• Roy will advise the caller on the next steps

2. Donated equipment should be sent to:

If accepted, donated equipment will be given a District property asset tag, entered into the District's electronic asset inventory, delivered to the destination site and placed into service. The donor will be sent a letter of appreciation.
